CoinGecko price alerts vs Crypto Alerts
CoinGecko's app can push when a coin hits a price you set, or when Auto Price Alerts flags a major move on something you recently viewed. Crypto Alerts is for a dollar price or 24h volume number, delivered by email or Telegram. A target matches the number shown on this site, which comes from live market data where we have it and from CoinGecko otherwise. We are not affiliated with CoinGecko.
What each one is for
| Need | CoinGecko app | Crypto Alerts |
|---|---|---|
| Price above / below a dollar level | Yes, in the mobile app (one-time or recurring) | Yes, on the web watchlist. One-shot: it fires once, then you set a new one |
| Auto / major-move alerts | Auto Price Alerts on recently viewed coins, in the app | No — you set the level: a USD price, market cap, 24h volume, or 24h percent move |
| Not offered for these alerts | On from signup | |
| Telegram | Not offered for these alerts | Link our bot once |
| 24h volume above a USD level | Not the same product | Yes |
| Price data | CoinGecko | Live market data, with CoinGecko as the reference |
| Market data, charts, listings | Yes — that is the product | No; we are not a data terminal |
When to stay in CoinGecko
If you already check coins in the CoinGecko app and an in-app push is enough — including Auto Price Alerts on recently viewed tickers — you do not need another account. If you want the alert in email or Telegram, or a volume target in USD rather than a major-move ping, that is the gap this site fills.
A dollar target here matches the number this site shows: live market data where we have it, checked every 5 seconds on Pro and every 30 seconds on Free, and CoinGecko for the rest, checked about every 10 minutes. It will not always equal CoinGecko's own quote — the same caveat as CoinMarketCap vs our alerts, against a different feed.
FAQ
Does CoinGecko already do this automatically?
CoinGecko's Auto Price Alerts watch coins you recently viewed and notify you in the mobile app when they make a major move. That is app-only, and it is a move-style trigger — not a dollar price or 24h volume level you type, and not email or Telegram. If you want a number you chose, delivered to your inbox or a Telegram chat, that is the gap this site fills.
Does CoinGecko have price alerts?
Yes. The CoinGecko mobile app lets you set a price alert — one-time or recurring — on a coin you follow. That is a solid setup if you already live in that app and a push there is enough.
What does Crypto Alerts add?
Email from signup, Telegram after you link our bot, optional browser push on desktop, Android, or iPhone after Add to Home Screen, and 24h volume as a USD threshold. Price alerts on coins with live market data are checked every 5 seconds on Pro and every 30 seconds on Free, and so are percent-move and volume alerts on most of those coins; market-cap alerts and coins without live data are checked about every 10 minutes. The app tells you when an alert is on the slower schedule. A dollar, percent, or volume target matches the number on this site, which is not always CoinGecko's. Pro can also notify you when a saved wallet transacts (Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, Linea, Blast, Mantle, or Solana).
Is this a CoinGecko replacement?
No. CoinGecko is a market-data product — charts, listings, research, a huge catalog. Crypto Alerts is a watchlist and notifier. Use CoinGecko to look a coin up; use this if you want a dollar or volume target in email or Telegram.
Do you use CoinGecko prices?
Partly. CoinGecko is our reference for listings and market caps, and for coins without live market data. Many coins are priced from live market data instead, checked every 5 seconds on Pro and every 30 seconds on Free. Either way a dollar, percent, or volume target matches the number shown on this site, which is not always CoinGecko's.
